Owning the first link in the chain
When the same line runs short season after season, owning its source costs less than chasing it.
Purebred Arabians and farm production
A stud of purebred Arabian horses and a working farm. The group's agricultural arm, and its longest-breathed business: what is measured here is measured in generations, not seasons.
The stud is the slowest-moving part of the group, deliberately so. Trade is measured by the shipment and farming by the season; breeding horses is measured by pedigree — work that cannot be hurried or shortened.
The farm side supplies part of the feed and crops the group trades, and gives it something no supply contract can: first-hand knowledge of what it means to grow the crop rather than buy it.
